I’ve had these thighs for quite some time. Pretty much my entire adult life. I’ve grown to love them….and they have…well…grown. They tend to touch when I walk.
Not having a thigh gap is helpful when dropping items in your lap, but not so much for walking when they aren’t protected from each other.
When I decided to up my style game and stop living in sweatpants, I discovered that finding actual pants that fit well was a challenge. That’s when I fell in love with skirts and dresses. I can be dressed quickly and effortlessly while looking like I put time and effort into what I was throwing on and not just grabbing the first thing out of my closet.
Thighs that touch.
What I didn’t love about dresses and skirts was what they did to my thighs. Well, what my thighs did to my thighs. They rubbed: which causes friction, which causes chaffing, which causes pain. Some of you call it chub rub. Whatever you call it, it’s not fun.
I tried things:
Deodorant on the thighs. It only worked for a little while and I would have to re-apply. It was also kind of gross having deodorant on your thighs all the time.
Wearing shorts under my skirts. Then I would have lines that I didn’t want and sometimes the shorts would ride up my thighs and not help anyway.
I wasn’t happy with the results at all.
Then one day I found them! Bandelettes! These little thigh bands that look like stockings, but without the stocking part. I wasn’t sure if they would work or if they were comfortable. I sure didn’t want them slipping down while I was out at the grocery store!
I decided it was worth the $15 price tag to try a few pair out. I watched the videos and measured my thighs to get the right size. (This part is important! Don’t skip it!) I chose a cute black lace pair and a nude lace pair. They fit perfectly! Once I put them on and got them adjusted well, I barely noticed them! They stay in place. I can run, jump, march or skip without them going anywhere. Guess what?! They are also super sexy!
Bandelettes are my wardrobe game changer!
Here are a few tips should you decide to try them:
Measure your thighs to get the right size. Don’t order them too small thinking they need to be tight to stay up. They don’t. They need to fit well with just a little stretch when you put them on. If they are too tight they will roll up and out of place.
Practice putting them on the correct spots. I didn’t know exactly where my thighs rubbed together. It’s in a very different place than I imagined. Place them well. Spend a few minutes getting them settled. Mine tend to sit just a bit higher on the outer thigh than the inner thigh to stay up and be comfortable. Play with it a bit.
While I got the super sexy lacy ones, I might not next time. I have to move and adjust them carefully so that the open part of the lace does not hit exactly where my thighs rub together, or they don’t work. Next time I will get the solid ones. Still sexy, but easier to adjust.
Wear them around the house for a day to work out the kinks. I wear mine almost every day in the summer time and have never had any kind of wardrobe malfunction.
While I am sure they aren’t perfect and amazing for every body type, they are magical to me!
